The great irony is, Pete would leap at 7 years/$158 million guaranteed right now, but there's no way Boras can put that on the table because it would mean Pete hired him basically for nothing.

So, let's look at this through the agent's eyes. The AAV has to be north of $22.57 million in order to justify his role if the years are fewer. Probably significantly higher. The only question is who is going to get there for him.

That's on general principle. But since Boras is Boras, the total value of the contract also has to be above the total value of the rejected deal in order to protect his reputation.

Which is how he got to the Prince Fielder contract. It's not the market talking, it's history: here's what this bopper got, my guy should get the same. And it's not for nothing the AAV is higher at $23.78 million and the total value is higher.

Bonkers, I know. But here we are.

More drama. Pete dump your agent and take the 3 for 90 if that was the offer. You were sold a ponzi scheme

Comparing Pete to a historically bad contract is a weird move 🤷‍♂️ I really hope we sign Winker - no interest in Verdugo. I’d be surprised if we sign Scott but it’s interesting we’re showing some interest. We need another proven good reliever

I love Pete. Great in the clubhouse, puts asses in the seats, does everything the right way. But 9 years? I think Boras is losing it.

Supongo que es muy descabellado que Pete despida a Boras en plena temporada baja, no? Pero es algo realmente bonito para soñar... 😂
