Seems like a bit of pessimism or criticism in every point/topic? If you can’t be optimistic in spring training -- on day 3 -- why bother? Personally, I could care less about spring wear and I’m gonna believe in the players at least until they’ve pitched against their opponents 3 or 4 times. Also, there’s a large contingent of fans who are happy to see the young guys get a shot without the likes of some 15 or 20 million dollar old DH guy that can guarantee you nothing. Maybe, and this is not directed specifically at this blog, it’s just the writers of various media who spin the negativity from end-to -end are the ones without hope? I think there’s plenty of baseball fans looking forward to the season with more basic optimism and enjoyment than writers who think they know it all. Just my take.
Last year Eppler made us the worst version of Steinbrenner brand of baseball. I’m kinda happy to lower expectations and payroll, so that it’s less of the focus. Very happy to see Vientos and Stewart as a DH tandem rather than Vogelbach, possibly the most unathletic player to ever don a met uni!!
I try to be pragmatic. And I have been overly optimistic about this team over the years. I know to call a spade a spade when I see one. Perhaps I will be wrong but ultimately it comes down to talent and they are arguably the 3rd most talented team in their division alone.

For me personally, it’s the roster construction.

I appreciate you point of view and perspective. Here’s to a hopefully surprising season!
