Is there a parallel to the aqusiton of another White Sox center fielder in 1968? He worked out pretty well!

We should all express our condolences to Kevin J. Rogers, Acuna's loyal and earnest booster in these pages. Sorry, Kevin, gotta give up somethin' to get somethin'. At least he'll finally get some playing time with the Sox.

That's the way I'm looking at it. Once we made the Semien deal, I knew he was trade bait.

The thing is, the ChiSox have Lenyn Sosa at 2B. He had more homers and ribbies than Robert: 22 HR 75 RBI .264/.293/.434 slash. So, is Luisangel going to play centerfield? Or is he going to be in the same pickle in Chicago as he was with us, fighting for playing time?

Or is he going to get the chance to earn the 2B job in Spring Training?

Any way around it, I'd love to see the season he can put together over 155 games and 600 PA. I hope he gets the chance.

In the meantime, Robert is a good return. Elite centerfield defense, and if he can find his hitting shoes again, he could become an actual force. He just needs to stay healthy.

That's quite a compendium. Let's indulge ourselves: I remember when Nimmo had the injury-prone rap the first few years but overcame it. Flitting through his splits I noticed he hit much better when batting 6th and he certainly isn't going to be slotted at third or cleanup like he was in Chicago. Maybe a lesser role will benefit him. We can always hope...

The significant health issue Robert poses in 2026 means, to me, that he is only worth it if Bellinger is added to the lineup.

The sky is the limit for this guy. If he reverts back to his 2023 bat people will be like “Pete who?” lol. His injury history though is tough to overcome for me. He is the under 30 guy Stearns covets and for a year? It was worth a flier. If he stays healthy and gives his gold glove defense that’ll be as important and him batting better than Taylor and while Taylor is due for some sort of bounce back? I think Tyrone has shown us the player he is. Great glove zero bat. The hole that he was last year killed many a Mets rally to be before it could get going. Forget Bellinger unless he’s getting 50 mill with opt outs.

It will be great if the "ifs" turn out as we hope. But the same stuff was said about Siri who of course was a fiasco.

True, Stearns did this last year too with the rotation. The If’s turned into But’s real fast.

"Acuña’s path to playing time was shrouded in lineup fog,..." Creative sportswriting lives! I'd like to note in passing that Dom Hamel was at one time ranked #9 in the Mets system...some of 'em don't make it.

The Mets got in by the skin of their teeth and then didn't get in by a similar margin.

The second season led to a bunch of changes. Got a lot of new faces.

Looks like they have a team. They still need a starter. Another reliever also seems likely. Won't be surprised to see another player (Vientos?) leaving.
