The Mets would not have gotten as deep into the playoffs last year without Mark. Not unusual for a young player to slump a bit the next year . I would forget about what's happened till now, and pencil him in every day this month, then reevaluate. I'm way more concerned about the pitching.

Sophomore slump. The league has adjusted and Mark doesn't have the experience yet to adjust in return. But he works hard and he's learning. He's been getting eaten alive on the slider all year, but that's what he hit for his bases-clearing double last night.

Admittedly, the pitch was up. But still, he got to it and he drilled it into the gap in right center instead of trying to pull it. Great swing. Let's hope it unlocks him.

I've been waiting, waiting, waiting (not too patiently) for Vientos to do some damage. Naturally, I dozed off before his base-clearing double last night. But today's game (4:10) is right in my wheelhouse. Do it again, Mark!!!!

Plus: These rain delays and postponements are getting tiresome and certainly aren't doing the pitching staff any good. No one to complain about makes it worse, for me. 😀

Power sweeping into the break is the plan

Francisco Alvarez hit his 5th HR for Syracuse last night, but is still hitting south of .200

I've thrown my hands up on the guy. We might as well just let him use the big leg kick and hitch in his swing and just whale away. The more he's thinking in there, the worse he does.

If he can give us .240 with a ton of pop and be a defensive asset, we're good to go.

Vientos going oppo is encouraging. That’s what he needs to do to get going. If he can get back to what he was last year it’ll help this lineup so much

Two walks for Mauricio last night and his selectivity has really been a lot better than 2023. His ISO in 23 was .099 and it’s up to .169 this year. That is a jump from the bottom of the league in ‘23 (looking at qualified batters) to mid-pack this year. His BB % is up, k% slightly down and hard hit % up. He’s been below average in BABIP where his average is 50 points lower than in ‘23. I continue to be very excited by Ronny.

Is this a sign that Vientos is coming out of his horrible slump? Let's not jump the gun. If he doesn't get going soon, I say let him join Alvarez in Triple A.
