I’m not sure anyone wants Pete back more than Michael Baron. Lol. I do agree Alonso and the Mets make a lot of sense for each other. And the Mets are a better team with him than what they are currently looking at. But, stating the obvious, Alonso has to have a reality check on his value. I do think Toronto is still an option for Alonso but of course any team that signs Alonso outside of the Mets will forfeit a draft pick. That may be a real deterrent for other teams. It’s obvious the market just wasn’t there for him and he and Boras overestimated his worth. So getting a deal done with maybe a first year opt out will give Alonso an opportunity to prove the market wrong and up his value next offseason. Or not.

Baseball Tonight had a good segment on Pete yesterday. When you look at his overall production, he's about where Kyle Schwarber is, which means his value is somewhere between $20 million and (if we're being generous) $25 million per year. That's about where the organization has been all along, even before Stearns came on.

I don't blame Pete one bit for shopping himself around myself. He's 30, so this is his shot at a max contract.

But he's clearly not going to do any better than the 7 years/$158 million he rejected. He gambled and lost. It's time for Pete to admit the $23.33 million AAV Stearns has put on the table is right in the heart of his market value, sign on the dotted line, then go out there and hit. If he can put together three seasons like 2022, he'll definitely be looking at a big number at age 33. It's not hard to envision a scenario where he gets something like four years and $120 million.

And just like that, he's about where he was looking to be from the beginning.

Just get back. It is hard to believe that you could have a better year anywhere else. You can in a moment step back into familiar surroundings, be with guys that you know value you for who you are, and where the fans support you. This is not rocket science, you fit like an old glove!

At this point I really don’t care about Pete Alonso. The offer isn’t going to get better. Move on and out. Time for you to go. Move on.

I'm with you. I only disagree with your statement that after he signs there will be, "...a lot for both sides to explain.". I don't think there's anything to explain. They had a tussle and after he signs, it will be over. Of course there's always a thirsty sportswriter eager to stir things up, but hopefully nobody provides him with anything juicy. I'm thinking of the time Lindor and McNeil had some kind of fight and for weeks and weeks some sportswriters just refused to let it go.

Si finalmente Pete regresa a casa, lo primero que le recomendaría es cambiar de agencia de representación...

It would be nice to see him fire Boras.
