Let's face it. This is what the Mets are--at best, a .500 team. That may be good enough to sneak into the Wild Card, but who are we kidding? They're not good enough to win a World Series Championship.

The Mets are on the clock. They need to decide who they are and who they want to be. Yes, they need to bolster the bullpen. That was evident even before the Diaz suspension. But, will that be enough to put together another run of success like they had in June? And at what cost?

I'm still of the mindset of making all of their impending Free Agents available to the highest bidder; Alonso, Martinez, Bader, Severino and continue to stock their farm system with quality prospects. What they did last year was a nice start, albeit a costly one from a financial standpoint, but they need to do more. You can never have enough good prospects. They should always be a position to seamlessly replace players on the big league roster with big league ready talent. The Braves do. So do the Dodgers. That's what "next man up" is really all about.

DJ needs to be upgraded. He’s great at walking but hitting below .200 doesn’t work. As for the BP I’d try Megill, Vasil, Hamill and Lucchesi before overpaying at the deadline. This is a big series in Pittsburgh
