Losing Lindor for any length of time is not ideal, but better now than in the heart of the season. He always starts slow anyway. Clean it up now and have him at 100 percent when the weather warms up and we'll be fine.

The important thing is the four most important words in human history, other than "This too shall pass": PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT.

Every friggin’ year! Your positive view on Lindor is much more rosier than mine. Lindor is notably a slow starter to the season and now if he has surgery and misses all of ST that means he will need all of April to just get ready and this is during games that count. Why??? If this is something he has been dealing with and grinding through for years now did he not get it looked at when last season ended? Are these players that stupid? Do they not have season ending physicals? If not this should be implemented to avoid dumb situations like this. The Mets have something like this every fucking year. Last season it was the Alvy who had the same injury and granted his was unexpected and happened as he was playing but this is just completely avoidable and the team needs to address this going forward. He will have surgery as every time Stearns says that word it happens. Only the Mets this happens to.

He also had elbow surgery?

Not sure about your "couple of weeks" back on the field statement...I read six weeks elsewhere. I think it's a bigger deal than you make out. And it does seem likely that this is something that could/should have been attended to earlier since it arose immediately after training started. Is there anybody out there who feels good about Brujan starting games for us? Mauricio is a toolsy guy but close your eyes, think of his at bats, and watch him whiff on balls miles off the plate time after time.

6 weeks would be opening day, so he’d be ready. I think some of yall forget the 6 weeks includes a rehab assignment

It's six weeks, but Stearns clarified that that includes a ramp up back to playing time, so on the currently proposed (and maybe idealistic) timeline he'd be expected to be competition-ready by Opening Day. I think it's important to clarify that hamate issues can have a fairly high rate of variance in severity — Lindor is supposedly dealing with a stress reaction, whereas the Carroll and Holliday injuries announced today are outright fractures and thus will require a lengthier ramp up. Even if Lindor does miss a bit more time than anticipated, there are plenty of capable options to step in and maneuver the infield around that. It would certainly shorten the lineup temporarily, but I'd obviously rather that hand be dealt early than late in the game. If this was going to happen, it's better Lindor addressed it with the team before the first full squad practice as opposed to playing through it and hitting the IL midway through the season. A few Brú/Ronny/etc. replacement starts in April would be easier for me to stomach than asking them to suddenly step up in July.

Do I wish it was addressed sooner, especially considering it's been a nagging issue? Absolutely — but also better it gets taken care of now than not at all.
