Stearns owns this. I get he needs to show optimism or else the wheels REALLY come off, but the guy would benefit from adding just a tiny bit of contrite self awareness into his public face to the fans.

Seeing the sum total of his moves has made me appreciate what an amazing manager Counsell was in Milwaukee. Made Stearns look like a genius.

Andrew, can you explain what you thought were Mendoza's "horrible" moves last night? "Linda did a great job on Friday at looking into whether or not it is time for Carlos Mendoza to lose his job, and that viewpoint has more credence today after Mendoza managed last night’s game horribly. He didn’t do himself any favors, that’s for sure."

Yes. The pen has done rather well lately. To the extent they gave up runs, it was somewhat surprising. They scored nine runs. So, they did hit.

I guess it's fair to say Myers was due for a little slump. He's been so good. Brazoban too. And where did they find Autin "MVP. MVP." Warren? He has been great.

The pitchers must produce....its not Mendys fault. Is throwing one inning gonna disqualify any of them from pitching tonite or Sunday???

Totally agree. The roster is the problem. And the person who built it—Stearns—should be held accountable.

Thank goodness for the Knicks. They are keeping me from paying too much attention to the Mets.

I feel like Stearns has done a very good job building the farm system infrastructure with a focus on a continuous pipeline of prospects that’s needed to build a sustained winner BUT needs to hire a GM to help with the major league roster. Let’s not forget this team wasn’t great with Pete and Nimmo either

Maybe Stearnsy specializes in and has perfected the art of obtaining players that are JUST PAST their prime & are clearly on the downside of their careers. He can't help himself....he did it after the '24 season with the pitching staff he created. Though Shaun M has pitched courageously.

I thought signing stars past their prime was a New York sports tradition, including Knicks and Rangers. Brunson is one of the very very few players who got better after he came to NY.

Thoughts… Baty, Vientos and Alvarez are .230 hitters. They were supposed to be the foundation of our team. It’s time to give up on them. Mendoza should have been fired for last year’s collapse. Guess Stearns is waiting till end of this year’s disaster. There is no fire or personality with this team. Our defense is much worse than last season. Robert shouldn’t play another game for the Mets.

Actually, Stearns did OK in assembling the bullpen. The problem is starters not going at least six innings. Too bad Holmes went down (making him a starter was one good move by Stearns).

Inserting Melandez was one good move by Mendoza. The key SF came before the GWHR!

The Marlins always seem to play the Mets like this. Annoyingly pesky.

The Mets seem to repeatedly have a good chance when they get to bonus time. The pen has been good overall, though yesterday was more of a hiccup.

Peralta has been disappointing. Less than five innings. Not a one-off either. He gives them seven innings, and he also gives up four runs. Surely, he might eventually get into a groove and have a bunch of good outings, but as of now, he is not showing ace-like stuff.

It's good that they won, on some level, but unless they are suddenly going to come back (and darn, I'm sick of hearing from people like Stearn -- sounds like b.s. artists), on another, it would be best if they clearly lose big. Then, they can do a "fire sale" of sorts and work toward the future.

For instance, Peralta, to the extent we want him, said even if he were traded as a rental, he would be willing to re-sign with the Mets. Well, fine, why keep him? So, the Mets can get a bit closer to .500?

The team can get a few players, some addition by subtraction (eating some salary for some of Stearns' mistakes), and we can enjoy watching the youngsters and some role players that do the job.

Doesn't Peralta remind ANYBODY of Marcus Stroman??? His shortercompact body type, the wind up/delivery & even a bit factually. It's bizarrre.

About last night...in later innings he was throwing batting practice...his pitches were all flat....easy to hit.

Google reveals: "Incredible" has fallen victim to the same linguistic inflation as "awesome" and "amazing." When literally everything—from a gourmet meal to a parking spot—is deemed incredible, the word loses its true meaning: impossible to believe.
