'We don't have much time left' Chilling. This is what a death row inmate is told the morning of his execution.

EVERY time they're about to play Atlanta..arch enemy...the Mets enter limping after getting beat up the previous 6/7 games.

We enter the arena with trepidation, as they say.

We lack last season's grit. It's as simple as that. We press rather than attack the game with determination, and there's a huge difference.

It also doesn't help that we left our best speed (and best middle infield partner for Lindor) in the minors. But I digress. And it's not like Acuña would have been some kind of savior, anywy.

But he may have been a spark. And this team needs a spark — desperately.

Are we sure Montas is not hurt? Can someone drop a weighted baseball on his toe? This team is lifeless, injury prone, terrible defensively, with a bullpen that is not up to the rigors of a playoff race. And they are managed by a guy who has no imagination what so ever. Need some young blood to step up. That means Baty, Vientos, Mauricio, Senger.

One of the other Substack’s I follow for the Mets said it best. I can’t fall back in love with this team. The team showed us what they could be and has blown that good feeling to shit. Even if this team went on some sort of magical run I feel like I’d just be looking at the box score the next day. I’ll keep tabs on my team of course but I’ve broken up with them this season and I’m not wasting 3 hours of my time to keep seeing what happened last night over and over and over again. This relationship is done. College football stars this weekend thank god.

I HAVE to remain a Mets fan. I live near Philly. I. Just. Can't.

Become a Phillies fan, and believe in the '25 Mets.

Wait 'til next year!! Or something.

I’ll always be a Mets fan. That’ll never change but you said it the “wait til next year” moniker is back.

You know how it will go. The Mets will eke out a third wild card (helped by them winning the Reds series coming up), and we will be back to rooting for them, maybe including after they somehow win the first playoff series.

David Stearns going to be working overtime this off season to put together a pitching staff and fill out the rest of the roster. And there's the Pete redux ... and who are the keepers among Vientos, Baty Mauricio, and Acuna ... and is there a voodoo priest available in NYC who can keep Alvarez on the field ... and will Mendoza get a 3rd year ... and (fill in the blank[s])

The Mets won that Seattle series thanks to a bit of luck (a few dubious calls & catching a ball behind his back helped retain the lead), and some might say some good vibes by bringing up a "young stud" (In Gary Cohen's words). I say bring up another and play some bulk games to help with the others (figure Senga can manage to give you five or so) + rely on Peterson every fifth or sixth day.
