Media members are so arrogant and provincial to believe that NY is really different.

it is just so incredible to see this narrative written over and over again by New York media who think they are the reason why players do not perform well.
I would focus on the stuff variables in fangraphs, and those do report declines in location and pure stuff. Location is down the most, which is the reason for his decline in performance.

yeah, i agree . I never really bought into the media being the issue with large market teams. Fanbase on the other hand can be brutal. There is something to be said about NY sports and the fanbases that follow them. We could be pretty vocal and less tolerant compared to small market teams. Maybe it's just a NY thing not sure. I now live in the southwest part of the country we have no professional sport teams . I still follow all the NY teams. It's just different out this way.
There has to be something different about here. It still bothers me the Jason Bay experiment. He played well before coming here. There have been some others that are great before being a Met.. Come here are trash or a lesser version. They leave and are great again. Maybe it's the coaching and support staff that aren't great.
Bay was not playing that badly at the time, he was run out New York by the Great Wall of Flushing. He was hitting doubles and for an average, but not home runs. Sometimes people need to use a different lense on a player.
It's certainly possible that the pressure of being in the NY spotlight is a factor in Peralta's flop. But we aren't his therapist and we don't really know if that's the reason. It doesn't seem fair to cite this as an example of Stearns' refusing to consider the human factor/NY spotlight thing. Stearns is to blame for plenty of other personnel moves, but not this one imo. Btw, since Robert is an injury waiting to happen, why is he taking at bats away from younger players who could benefit from the experience? Doesn't seem realistic to think either he or Polanco will have a role in an improved Mets team in the future.
It would be interesting if someone would ask David Stearns and Justin Willard, what exactly is it about your pitching lab that seems to have pitchers maxing out at netting 15-17 outs at best.
You make it sound like Curry was good. He gave up a 3-run home run, two charged to Peralta and, if it was not over already, provided the dealth knell on that game last night. The only thing good about his performance is they did not burn anyone else in the bullpen
He was coming off a great season. He had a couple of other very good ones. He, however, had a limited number of good years, and it could very well be partially a factor of where he pitched. IDK.
I do know the team patched together this year was a mess. They had a nice surprise run with vets, pitchers trying to prove something, and role players. Good mix.

Thankfully we won’t have to watch this guy pitch in a few weeks. I was excited when we traded for him and didn’t think we gave up too much but it’s been a complete disaster just like Bichette, Polanco, Robert, Myers, Semien.

BTW, "only gave up one run" when you also iced the win for the Brewers with two inherited runners scoring is a bit generous.
