I believe the Mets won't sign Pete this off-season. He's not worth what they already offered him and will probably regress further as he ages.

Can you imagine the reception he would be getting if he did sign that deal, and turned in the performance we've seen so far this season?! Yikes!

Boobirds would be SO loud. I really like Pete and thank him for his contributions over the years but feel the team needs to go in a different direction unless he's open to a short-term deal.

I’m sure he regrets not signing that contract. The pressure is definitely weighing on him. The type of player he is doesn’t usually age well. I’d bring him back but only on a short term deal and I’m sure some team will give him more years.

Post-Peak-Pete. The decline has already begun.

Amazingly, there's still time for him to write the script with a strong finish. But that appears doubtful.

Alonso and the Mets will both have big decisions to make come November. For him will the open market offer him what the Mets did , and for the Mets does he provide the best bang for their buck, and will they put the same offer on the table.
