Meanwhile, Stearns continues to clean out the front office. So here we go into the 5th year of the Cohen era with a rebuild job - both in the dugout and upstairs - ahead.
The Today's Game match-up is wrong as of this writing - -they play the Orioles, not the Marlins.
Yesterday's game was painful; at least, I didn't actually watch it. Sorry Roku. Can Garrett be DFA-ed or something? That walk-fest deserves immediate action.
Other teams (the Guardians had a long losing streak) had August blues. But the Mets' inconsistent second half is near lethal. They needed to have two more wins, at least, and go into this 10 game stretch with some margin of error. Instead, they are down 2 and a good chance is present they will fall further even if they do fairly well. Such is life of a marginal playoff hopeful.
I agree with your comments except I’m probably in the minority but I thought Roku did a good job. Anthony Recker is really good and should get more air time imo.
This is what happens when you overestimate how good you are. The Mets will learn a very expensive lesson for not being a seller at the deadline. Say goodbye to Alonso, Martinez, Severino, Manaea and Bader, all of whom could have been traded for top prospects, like the Marlins (who will be better than us next season) did. Now, they will all be free agents, leaving the Mets empty handed.
Do we really have to feel bad for them having to play Thursday night in SD after playing Wednesday afternoon in NY. Maybe if they traveled in coach with the rest of us, didn't stay in the best hotels, and had performance staff to help them.
These next 10 games will determine if we still have a shot in September. 5-5 will probably be a win.

Yesterday's game is one you have to win. You can't leave runners on base especially in the 9th. The pitching yesterday was good enough to get a WIN

I didn't watch it so can't comment on the analysis. From what I saw of him elsewhere, Recker seems a worthwhile analyst. Back-up catchers often are.
