On Friday, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters at Citi Field Francisco Lindor could begin performing baseball activities this afternoon.
Lindor will miss his fifth straight game on Friday due to a lower back strain he sustained a week ago in Philadelphia, but Mendoza said if Lindor does well today, he could return to the lineup on Saturday.
As for Kodai Senga, he will throw 30-35 pitches in a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse. If he gets through that start with no problems, he will need five days off before returning which puts him on track to return next Friday night against the Brewers in Milwaukee.
Senga has made one start this season after he strained his right capsule in February, then suffered a calf strain during his one big league start in July.
