He burned the bridge to Queens when he quit on the team in 2020. (I don't believe it was Covid related since he left just as he got his service time to be a Free Agent)
Bringing back Q would be pretty cool, and if he could go 12-10 with a 3.85 ERA and 160 IP, that's about all I would have expected (or, to be more accurate, hoped for) from Montas anyway.
But I think we're going to end up going with Tylor. If he could give us what we got from him over his last six starts last year over an entire season, we'd be ecstatic.
Agreed, I'd rather give Megill a full shot. If it comes to it, I'd take Quintana in heartbeat over the toxic Stroman. Btw, some pundit a couple of weeks ago (I forget who) was carrying on about how even if the Mets resigned Alonso, the vibe would be poisoned by the hurt feelings, blah blah. Unless Alonso is a very talented actor, it looks like there's no grudge and no poison and the vibe is fine.
I think Pete is okay. It was a business negotiation. In the end, no one got everything, everyone got something, and they got to a deal everybody could live with. Now it's up to Pete to go hit and take another shot at a long-term deal.
And I'm a ditto on Stroman. Leave that guy off. Even if he was good enough to make the nonsense seem worthwhile -- and he's not -- the nonsense just isn't worth it.
And so it begins… 🤦🏼♂️ since we’re planning on a 6 man rotation I think we do need to bring in another arm. Quintana was the first name I thought of so we agree there. You’d have to assume he’d be cheap.
Stro - No, A BIG NO. NO NO NO NO NO

Not Castillo, but how about one of the younger Seattle starters?
Yes, Pete, your throws to second base have been weak. Better ABs and you might get your five-year deal!
