25% of the season is done and overall without nitpicking what Met fan in their right mind can complain! Hope they can duplicate the first quarter of the season. LET'S GO METS!!!!
Rich, I couldn't agree more. What irks this 64 yo is all the stuff about pitch shape, spin rate, blah blah blah. Tom Seaver talked about his conditioning, and how he approached hitters. Location, location, location. Seaver's four seamer is legendary, but his mental acuity and toughness is off the charts. with Megill and MANY of today's starters...not so much.
Megill is not showing himself to be a permanent starter. The team is stretching their pitching a bit too much. Two starters are out, and they repeatedly need six starters. Canning himself ideally should be in the sixth starter position. Megill is what he is. Fifth/sixth starters are regularly iffy, though they can be good in short bursts. Kranick is also looking a bit human.
The team has lost a bit too many close games. The Cubs are a very good team. But it has been a trend lately. Now the big boys are not hitting in the clutch in key moments. Oh well.
Glad they won the one SNY game.
(Well, Canning was very good today, even if no one watched it on Roku.)
Megill may indeed be well, Megill, but this game was lost at the plate in the home half innings. The Mets pitching remains at the top end of rankings while our occasionally awesome offense continues to linger in mehville.
The LOB and RISP stats are indicative of a cancer on this team must be cured if this season is to be successful.

La irregularidad de Megill ya la conocemos, a estas alturas no nos deberÃa sorprender. Lo tomas asÃ, o lo dejas. No hay término medio.
Fair point / punto justo
