Really nice work with these daily posts! Aside from Lindor's heroics, Mendoza is pushing all the right buttons even when it doesn't work out. When Marte pinch hit for Winker, Mendoza knew the lefty would be lifted and Marte would face a RHP. Marte had a good swing in making an out. Pinch running Acuna for Vientos was also the right move. Wish Acuna would've held the base on his attempted steal of third in the 8th but you have to like the overall aggressiveness by the manager and his team. Being able to move Baty to 3B and Acuna to 2B is valuable. Knowing when to do it is why Mendoza is one of the best managers. Keep up the good work.
It was wrong of Mr. Steele to say that Brazoban "delivered"...he blew a save. But I disagree, even the best give up a homer now and then...I think he's looked great for the most part. He's given up 2 homers in 13 innings, give him a break.
Hi Joel. In all fairness, I didn't say that. I said Brazobán, Kranick and Stanek delivered, as in the three of them combined, hence why I combined their stats. So one run between the three of them isn't bad at all. If I said Brazobán delivered, and didn't include the other two, I'd accept your point, but I deliberately put those three together for a reason. Just to clear that up.
We try to keep the top section short, something I’ve not always done. So today I made a conscious effort to keep it as short as possible and keep the bullpen to one bullet point. Yes, he gave up a run, but he recovered and struck out three and limited the damage. I can see your point, for sure, but I made what I thought was the right decision in the moment. The point of the bullet point was to say the bullpen delivered which, for the most part, it did. As my editor would say, you can go to the box score for the breakdown. That’s just my rationale behind it. But, as always, appreciate your support and readership and your daily interaction. Couldn’t do what we do without you
Winker smoked the ball after Alonso triple but right at the fielder. Can’t put a better swing than that. He’s a professional hitter and those hits will start to fall.
Great win! Vientos is starting to look like the guy we saw last year. Baty is looking like a major leaguer this week. Acuna gives us speed and defense we need. It’ll be interesting to see what we do when McNeil is back. Maybe Nimmo to the IL? He’s just been terrible.
A great start to the season for the team. Hard to believe 1/8 of the season is in the books and the Mets are more than holding their own. Much better than digging a hole that you need to get out of for a playoff run!
And a special thanks to a former Mets whose error helped his old team fight past a caught stealing (by an eyelash) and score a run! Lindor did not have a great night at the plate ... until he did!

Comments: Acuna is a great base stealer...but has a bad habit of oversliding the base & not holding on.
*Nimmo got a hit last nite to come out of slump.
* Brazoban surrenders a Homer each time he's on the mound. He's not the answer...it almost hurt the Mets last nite & will in future
* Vientos seems to love hitting hi pitches for homers...hes good.

Kranick and Stanek delivered. Brazoban blew a save. Don't see the sense of lumping them together.

I will be patient....I stand corrected for now ☺️

Well, if Baty can get some life, maybe Nimmo eventually will. Perhaps he should shave that beard off.
I had the same thought! Shave it off.
I really enjoy these posts!
Interesting stat about Lindor 5th in career homers for shortstops. If I had had to guess I would have been way off.
