"Alabama Slammer"! I remember that drink. Of course, I (the bartender!) would combine it with a kamikaze. Should I have been concerned when said bartender wore a welder's mask?

Nice to see some hits & runs! The Vientos, Baty, Semien part of the order remains a concern.

Thanks for noting that Holmes led the team with wins last year. It's seemingly become highly uncool to even mention this stat...almost as uncool as mentioning runs scored. Credit to Stearns for signing him along with the criticism he deserves for other signings that haven't turned out so well. I'm very happy for Benge, as many were clamoring to send him down not long ago. Hope he continues. His rbi single last night showed a nice stroke--not trying to do too much--reminded me of McNeil and Pete Rose in that way.

It feels like even when the Mets win, they lose. Yes, they won 8-0, BUT it was against Washington. Yes, they scored 7 runs in an inning, BUT it was against a mediocre pitcher. I look at it as a starting point--something to build on. Win the game today. Win the series. Get back to .500 and keep going. It's still only April. In 2019, the Nationals were 11 games under .500 in late May and came back to win the World Series, so it's not beyond the realm of possibility that could happen to the Mets!

They had a great inning against a mediocre pitcher. Something to work off, I guess.

Holmes has been one of the few consistent bright lights in the early season.
