That makes a lot of sense to me. He's basically a one-WAR player, so a $2 million base with incentives to get him back to around $7.5 million is more than fair.
I doubt we bring Winker back. Back injuries are tricky and I wouldn’t trust his health. I do like his attitude and emotion - it’s something this team lacks - but I think I’d pass.
Michael, you write, "he holds an $11 million club option for the 2026 season. He had lat surgery in May which cost him most of the season, so like with Montas, Minter can be expected to exercise his option".
Which is it, a club option or 'his option'? Or am I not understanding the sentence?
Surprised you want Winker back. It's been a pretty good while since he hit well and he's only gotten older and sustained more injuries since then. Also, considering the "run prevention" theme, he's a net negative, isn't he?
I see Winker as more of a 2m guarantee with incentives. At that price I'd consider a reunion.

Winker is a .230 hitter. Do not bring him back.
