Shout out to any Mets fans with heart conditions who watched through the end of that game. It was great to see the game end on a play like that. It seems like some many games have been lost recently due to sloppy defensive play. That last play was the exact opposite of that. Acuna covered a ton of real estate and Diaz immediately sprinted to 1st and didn't become an observer. I think Diaz should use those cleats from now on!

But, I'm also not going to say that this is the game that turns things around. How many times has that been said in the last month? It may very well be the game, but let's wait a while before we determine that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Sproat will be allowed to play in the post season as he ws called up after 8/31.

The Mets were lucky last nite. But it just evens out more the badness that's been in the past. Mentally this win shows them they CAN perform & make the big play. It's a hugh psychological boost. The Reds will have a hurdle tho....

Would McNeil have been able to corral that last ball hit to the right side? I say no...his older body wouldn't have been able to get glove down....or even thought to 'slide' to smother/catch ball...and to throw A STRIKE to first base where the glove await.

I have always wished that Acuna be given a bigger role whether spelling Lindor, or just getting more chances to show his stuff No one on the team has more pure speed!

Absolutely spot on regarding the pitching. I've been all in on McLean since early June, and I'm sure he'll be fine, but the jury is still out on Tong — of course — after just one start, and we know nothing about how Sproat will perfom (big dude with a big arm, but that doesn't mean he can pitch).

So, it's up to the veterans to lean in. And the only one in a position to do that right now and lead the rotation is DP. He must pitch better or we're going to have a very, very hard time getting through.

And that's because we don't have a consistent enough bullpen to do what the Dodgers did last year. We need at least two starters to be big-game studs. We can count on McLean to compete on every pitch. We need David to do the same.

As far as Luisangel Acuña is concerned, I've said my piece. But I hope now we can all at least agree, he's our best defensive option at second base. By far.

Yup, Peterson has joined Senga and Manea in the "What happened?" club. Fingers crossed with Sproat. Hoping Alvarez can be anywhere close to what he was before spraining the thumb. That version of Alvarez and the rejuvenated Vientos make this a different club. Acuna, if he ever learns to hit, will be something. Haven't heard much from the Soto detractors lately, wonder why.

How bout the Bonehead Alonzo detractors?? He's got his 30 HR & 115 RBIs.....hes performed poorly the last month as he's satisfied with himself. Send him on his way in January.

Yup, like they're machines and their performance should never fluctuate. Btw, I was wondering what they're gonna do when Siri is ready to come back, but Mullins may solve that problem all by himself. He was hitting .229 when they got him and he's hit under .200 since then. And he was obtained because Tyrone Taylor wasn't hitting enough!

Peterson was a jack of all trades last postseason. Will Clay Holmes serve that purpose this postseason in any way? Peterson was somewhat better last night, but still was not his old self.

Senga was sent to the minors, but the other "ace" (Mr. Vowel) of the staff isn't doing that well either. The offense is going to be key if this keeps up. The Mets also need a late-night comeback.

Given their flair for the dramatics, maybe it will come in the first round of the playoffs.

I admit I feel asleep in the 8th inning as 4:30 as Yogi would say comes early. Saw the replay of Diaz moving fast to 1st on the final out, as this time was not going to be pinned with the tail! Keep the Giants in the rear view mirror, they are playing good baseball right now!
