Anyway, my basic rule is that people, including bosses, don't have to be and shouldn't be a-holes. There is some degree of toughness required in many roles. But you should still be able not to be an a-hole. Stearns has a reputation, not just here, as an a-hole.

We've seen the Mets do this for many years. We had the same conversations when Sandy was here and others. The Mets sign a good player but then put them in a position they don't normally play. You may argue that these are professionals and should be able to play similar positions, but we've not had luck historically (my memory anyway). Baseball really seems to be a head game that poor field play then leads to players to struggle at the plate or vice versa.
I would like to see the team get back to basics as they say "see the ball, hit the ball". Play people at the right positions.
Also disappointed to hear Cohen give Stearns a pass on the performance of the team so far under him. I don't remember all the moves made in 2024 that were as the result of Stearns. As Cohen, mentioned shouldn't he get credit for that season. A lot of what happened from my memory was in place from the previous group. I get that you need to be mindful of how you handle situations if you want others to come work for you. It just feels wrong to not consider a change at the top levels.
Let's see what happens the rest of the year and hopefully we can get into the wild card and make some noise.

Now we know why Fernando Alvarez tries to hit a home run to LF every time he swings the bat. Vientos too. Stearns was hired in October 2023. And in 2024, Jeff McNeil went from a potential all-star who could hit over .300, with power, to a guy who tried to pull home runs. And he went from a .300 hitter to a .235 hitter, which is where he has stayed since.

Run prevention is stressed then you have players playing in other spots all over the diamond where they shouldn’t be. Not so smart after all.
That’s a key problem. And that was a problem coming into the year. And that is something to hold the front office accountable against transactionally.
Yet Steve and Alex Cohen wants it (the Mets) like a family.
