The Mets beat the Nats for their fifth straight thanks to a majestic outing from their starter. Plus, why Peterson is becoming the bulldog pitcher New York has long needed...
It's so awesome to see everything coming together for David. He's such a good dude, and he's had such a long road to get here. Rock on, brother. You're on it for real now.
Change of subject: wondering when Acuna is going to get a start. Waiting for a lefty, I guess. Major crunch coming when Vientos returns and another when Siri returns. Couldn't stop myself from looking up shutout leaders over the years...how do you like Gibson with 13 in '68?
Regarding few pitchers going nine....its because they are now taught to pitch MAX effort on each pitch??? I don't agree with that method. It destroys the arms of throwers. I'm older now...& remember Seaver pitching a 9 inning game as a regularity. Gibson, Marichal, and many greats from the 60s & 70s did it. Did they need Tommy John surgery?? No. Something needs to change....its not necessary to pitch 99,100 mph....and remember 20 years ago 'we' made fun of American League pitchers cause they threw lots of curve balls (yeah that hurts arm too, no?) instead of heat like National League pitchers. So...who wind All Star games & World Series games? (Dodgers are exception..they are great)
I've said it before, Peterson has become a big time pitcher, and hope the Mets look to redo and extend his deal!
He's getting paid. It's not like his stuff won't play through his 30s, and a big-game, big-time lefty is worth their weight in gold.
