Thank you for saying this. Someone needs to kick both of the stars on this team in the ass and tell them to stop the BS and LEAD this team, if not in words than by example. A semi cleaning of the house is in order, but it shouldn’t be a fire sale. If Juan Soto doesn’t want to hustle his ass on the field, then make him a well paid DH and put Taylor out in left. I would say make Lindor the captain, but not until the nonsense with Soto is cleared up and ends.
Thank you for the feedback. I absolutely am glad he was signed by the Mets. One of the best hitters they’ve ever had. IMO, I threw out there that maybe he isn’t the leader type and the Mets need one. That’s not a knock on him, only opinion that if he isn’t a leader type don’t screw up what he does do and find somebody else for the leadership role. And he’ll still have his negotiated perks. There’s a lot of flack flying around on social media. What we fans do know is they stink. Management: figure it out and fix it. They will be judged by their record.
The Soto-Lindor antipathy thing is a rumor that they deny. The denial doesn't prove anything but still, why repeat a rumor? Next: why be eager to ship out Alvarez when you have no prospect of replacing him with a better catcher? Next: good luck with changing Soto's attitude. Getting him to agree to play first or DH would be a major coup.
We must remember Soto is who he is in personality and demeanor. On a contender full of stars, we likely think little of it. So, with a lousy team and little to motivate a nonchalant player swimming in perks and cash, this is what we get. They won’t fix him, but they need to fill the leadership vacuum. Mendoza and his temp sub wont do it. Another manager? Maybe, but they still need a player leader. Unfortunately, prince anointment( think Soto and his perks) has to cause problems . GM had responsibility in this mess too: switching established players and young alike all over the field, not to mention his acquisition gaffs. Soto should be DH with only occasional outfield use and needs to understand leadership is still just that if it has to be someone else. He’ll still have his perks. So much to be done. Is anyone currently in the organization capable?
Why is it so terrible if he gets a luxury suite for home games and some tickets? Should we resent that there's performance bonuses in his contract? Sure, he's got some big flaws but do you wish we hadn't signed him?
Alvarez may be the Mets most valuable trade piece considering the relative shotage of catchers. I'd be quite happy going forward with Torrens if Stearns (big if) can get some value in return for Alvarez.

Watching in 2026 for 2027 isn’t fun as a fan of a team with such a high payroll.
