Great piece on Soto in today's MLBTR. It starts off like this:

"Ralph asks:

What’s your take on Juan Soto’s lackluster performance to date?

My take is that it’s much ado about nothing."

Happy to see Baty come through. If he can hit he can be our X factor this year. Marte can NOT be the guy who bats 2nd. I liked the idea of a righty there though. I think Megill ends up in the bullpen and has the potential to be really good there.

Blackburn had a great 7ip start for ‘Cuse yesterday. Also, Mauricio is mashing. At some point I hope he’s the hitter that replaces Marte. There is little financial hit for promoting Mauricio on his rookie contract and DFA’ing Marte. Sometimes you just have to move on. I’ll gladly eat my words but Marte’s heyday ended when his broken hand dealt a big blow to the offense of the 2022 team.

I remember that. He was an important part of that team.

Disagree about Megill. Just accept what he can do for you for four plus or five or six innings and be glad we get it. I'm wondering if starters in general have shorter outings the last few years and it becomes a permanent feature like the rarity of complete games...the Mets seem to be the leaders in this area! Has anyone even gone 8 this year?

We need a consistent 6 inning average out of our top three starters so the 'pen can go 7-8-9 in those games, tops. (Deeper is better, of course.) The bottom three starters need to go five.

Figure with the six-man rotation, and Tylor staying healthy and effective, he'll get something like 30 starts total. If he can average five innings per start and notch 150 innings, that's fine for the tail end of the rotation. And he might be able to do better than that.

Brazo another great find for the pen! Thought they should shake up the lineup by batting Acuna 2nd and see how he responds.Frees up Lindor to be more of a base stealing threat. Id bat Soto 3, Pete 4, and Brandon 5.

Ronny Mauricio 7-11, 2 HR, 2B, OPS a cool 1.965. My guy plays better as the lights get brighter. Any chatter about an ETA? Been waiting 17 months to see this unicorn!

Intriguing player. I can't wait to see what he can do, too.

Great night for us Baty and Megill fans. And that hit in the 7th was NOT a bloop at all. Should've been a double but I guess Acuna thought it was going to be caught so he didn't take off. I'm starting to despair that Marte will ever return to what he was a couple years ago. Let's get off Soto's back, let him be.
