The most important thing for the Mets is for Peterson to get back to where he was until August 1st. Almost like McLain came up, the pressure of being the only guy who could get past the fifth came off his shoulders, and he went into a slump without it. Post season, Peterson has to be at his best. McLain has to continue to become the Mets ace. (An aside, is it me, or does McLain pitch like they are interupting him from something better to do. Never smiles. Pitches quick. Intensity. What a concept.)
Finally going to piggy back Manaea and Holmes is encouraging. Great back to back starts from Sproat and McLean. 12 innings 0 runs and we go 1-1. The offense is still maddening.
One thing I'm not going to do is ask if this is the "turnaround game". How many times have people said that about a game this season only for the Mets to get pummeled the next game? We'll know if it was or not soon enough. While making the playoffs is always exciting, I'm still concerned that it will be an excuse to only make tweaks in the offseason. Playoffs or not, BIG changes are needed in the offseason...players, coaches, philosophy, etc. Will Stearns and Co. do what's needed to be done?

Maybe, just maybe this could be the start of something big! ☘️☘️☘️
WAIT A MINUTE. SHOULDN'T THE METS PLAY OF THE GAME HAVE BEEN NIMMO HOMER, WHICH WAS THE REASON THE GAME WENT INTO EXTRA INNINGS.
ALSO PLEASE NOTE THAT ALONSO HAF ANOTHER O'FER. WITH NO HITS IN THE REGULAR 9 INNING GAME.
FOR ALONSO TO HOMER. YOU KNOW JUST BECAUSE IT WAS ALONSO 1ST HOMER, IN 50 AT BATS AS THE METS WERE LOSING 8 GAMES IN S ROW.
ALSO NOTE THAT ALONSO HOMER WAS OFF A HACK RELIEF PITCHER WITH A 5.50 ERA.
Calm down buddy
SORRY BUT MORE METS AND METS FANS SHOULD BE RILED UP. AS 15 GAMES AGO, THE
METS WERE A 99.99% LOCK FOR THE PLAYOFF WILD CARD
AND A 50/50 BET WITH THE PHILLIES FOR THE NL EAST TITLE
AND AS NIMMO GETS NOT ENOUGH CREDIT FOR A VERY GOOD YEAR. ESPECIALLY AS NIMMO'S BEEN PLAYING HURT THIS YEAR
AND ON ALONSO HOMERLESS IN LAST 50 AT BATS. HAS CHOKED ON SO MANY GAMES / AT BATS WHERE A HOMER WOULD HAVE EITHER TIED OR PUT METS IN THE LEAD
BUT THEN SOTO PROVED HE IS 10 X THE PLAYER SLONSO IS.
AND IF SOTO PLAYS 10 INJURY FREE SEASONS, HE WILL BE THE METS ALL TIME HOMER LEADER OVER ALONSO OR ANY OTHER METS EVER
Will wonders never cease!
"can the Mets actually put together a late season run?"
It'll be difficult with mostly 4-5 inning starters and a mostly non-existent BP, but .... #LGM
