What a huge failure this was. A real stain on David Stearns..Gave up 2 top prospects and got back IMHO not much and certainly won’t help the team anytime soon
What a weak take. None of the players in this trade have distinguished themselves. Ewing has supplanted Jett Williams in rankings. Remember, we are trading a pitcher who is 10 weeks away from free agency not a full season. No one thought the trade at the time was a bad one. Criticizing Stearns now is lazy
Really…Lazy after experiencing this season? I’ve lived through decades and there has been a lot at times to criticize ,but this season made no sense at all. He had a Bb pitching staff and payin Beau Bichette that crazy amount of money was terrible insight and business..When the let Alonso go and decided first base by commotion the inexperienced sealed it for me
Weak take. Alonso is a player who does not have 5 top years remaining. Giving him that contract is malpractice. And keep in mind they made it a point to break up that locker room which by the way never win anything.
Many players when they come to NY need an adjustment period before they settle in. Bo has been coming on as of late, and is still a young player.
No one thought Paralta would struggle like this. No one criticized the trade. If you have frustration over 40 years since the last World Series that’s fair. But Stearns has been here for less than 2 years. He’s not to blame for that. Most of the signings he did were short term because there is minor league talent getting ready to come up or has just come up.
You are thinking short term and missing the long term plan here
Glad Fastball Freddy has a chance to salvage some Free Agent value for himself in TB, but he was terrible this year. Why pay a starter big bucks for 4.1 innings.
Grateful for the candor. Well communicated and factual. Specifically appreciated the SP situation the rest of the way. Kid I saw Friday night (apologies but forgot his name) looked like he could munch a bunch in a “once around the block” opener gig. Miami got bats on balls, but not much real contact. Was also helpful to see the defense work in cohesive ways when balls were put in play. Gave me a small spark of optimism.
Well I'll be....they got one over on the Ray's. 3 prime prospects for Freddy is a damned nice trade!! Now if they turn around and f*ck up by trading Holmes I'll be dissappointed. Leave Weaver alone too...or you're back to square one in the bullpen too....Jesus, Mary & Joseph their as inept as Democrats.
