So I’m supposed to have faith that the guy who went out and got Frankie Montas and Joey Wendle and Zack Short and Jake Diekman and Adrian Houser, Jorge Lopez, Michael Tonkin, Yohan Ramirez, Cedric Mullins and Jose Siri is gonna suddenly make good decisions?
Tough to see it play out like this but the signing never made sens from day one. $34 million for less than 40 innings is brutal. At least Morabito looked solid in the Fall Leauge and gives them some depth. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and move on.
I never understood the Montas signing. An experiment like the one with Severino and Manaea two seasons ago might work out, but it's unlikely to be repeated. The Manaea of 2025 is proof of that.
Never understood why the Mets are willing to overpay mediocre pitchers and are so tight spending on Alonso. Can anyone realistically say that the Alonso is not worth $30 million per year, when they are paying Montas this? And Manea?
Good.
It was a mystifying contract from the get-go. But he seems a decent enough sort. Best of luck to him.

Worst signing ever?

His signing was ill-advised & that was if it went better. Oh well. Moving on.
