Ball players need to stop sliding head first into bases. Unless one is gonna do the swim maneuver, it seems dangerous to subject hands to damage. Don't the Mets work on this fundamental?

As goes Francisco Lindor, so we go.

At any rate, good weekend. If nothing else, we've changed the vibe around the team. Now we just have to hope Alvie is okay and the rest of the starters get over their August dead arm period and start going deeper and we can make a run.

Meanwhile, the Reds played the Brewers tough and even managed to end their winning streak. If the Reds can manage that energy versus other teams that are not juggernauts, this wild-card race can go down to the wire. Because the Mets this weekend showed they are far from DOD.

Alvarez had already injured the hand twice on foul balls defensively earlier in the game before the slide. Appreciate the hustle, but if you cant go in feet first, stay at first base. Hayden Singer, come on up.
