With all of the sobering news going around about Yamamoto why hasn't the Whiz Kid Stearns alias Bloom started signing free agents ALREADY. I am so angry at this kid. Cohen probably doesn't want to say anything to him the first year but this is BS. Say you are Yamamoto 25 years old walking into Dodger Stadium and on the Big Screen they have your image pitching and then a meet and greet with Ohtani , Betts , Freeman and Will Smith ( you played with Ohtani on Japan's Gold Medal winning team ) They will pay you the same as any other team. Who would you pick ? Now there are talks about Snell - yes he won the CY Young but he has been inconsistent over the years and will cost you a Draft Pick. How about we sign Montgomery and Giolito , Gurriel or Taylor for OF , Soler for DH , Neris , Junis & Moore for BP. I can Dream , right ? All of this can go away unless the Whiz Kid springs into action - what are the odds ?

Agents for those pitchers may be waiting to see how much Yamamoto gets paid.

But I agree with some of the things you said. I must admit that my expectations are low. I suspect, moreover, that the Mets are gonna have trouble signing elite players moving forward - beyond 2024. Elite players want to play for teams that are winning or close to winning now. And that's not us. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong - very wrong.

It seems no one really expected the Dodgers to be in the running for Yamamoto because they would spend so much money on Ohtani. But since they're only paying Shohei the equivalent of a utility infielder, the Dodgers can now go splurge on anyone they want including Yamamoto, as can the evil empire, who will then sign Soto to a massive deal. This is the chance for Hal Steinbrenner to reassert his fathers obsession with making the Mets look bad. Prepare for Met fans inferiority complex to rise rapidly to the surface again.

Are Mets fans being braced for a Yamamoto disappointment? Yes. Of course.

I'm genuinely curious where Heyman would get info like this. Is his agent leaking Yankees and Dodgers to get the Mets to bid up (or the Dodgers/Yankees to do the same)? I mean...what other info could he have other than the agent leaking something to base this on. This is why I find it hard to believe. I'm sure he has a favorite but I doubt he is spilling that to a guy like Heyman other than to try to manipulate the market.
