Stearns is an ass. I am so sick of his smug face. He says Mauricio will get plenty of playing time but not every day? Why? Who else is currently on this team that should play SS? It has been stated time and again that they want to keep Bichette at third and Semien at second. I guess Baty can learn another position on the fly in the big leagues so Ronnie can rest. The theory is that statement boggles the mind. If Lindor can play daily why can’t Mauricio? If the kid hits why wouldn’t he play EVERY day? The bullpen. Guys not playing up to the back of their cards? What year is he looking at for their production? Kimbrel? 10 years ago is when you wish you’d get that production. Williams? Ok but you knew when you signed the guy it was most likely that he can’t pitch in NY. Brazoban? Ummm, guy didn’t make the show until he was 31 and even then it’s been spotty. Raley? Three years is a long time to not give up a HR. Someone was gonna get him eventually it just happened at like the worst time. Weaver has been good. How about this? Put together a real pen. Not scrap heap guys where it requires them to fail and cost the team games until you DFA them. Bring up Lambert and Severino. Right and left guys who throw gas and are hot right now. Not walking anyone either. Just a thought. The more I see Stearns makes me just want to punch him in the face. Rat.
I see Mauricio's latest weakness is high tight hard one that he ALWAYS swings at. Opposing pitchers throw to that exact spot. Our pitching coach goes to Atlanta....and they're 19-8. Something is different with organizations like that.
The Rockies had three road wins coming into this series. We have our Number 1 starter on the hill. We have our defensive 2nd baseman out there on the field. They have a journey man starter going against us. Of course, we (the Mets) can't win the damn game! If we are going to do anything (like get to 500, or make the wild card) we have to win these games against these teams that aren't making the playoffs. Looks like we are one of those teams. I was just hoping that we could still do something this season. Looks like Freddy is just another 5 inning starter. When Steve Cohen purchased our team, and he said that in 3-5 years, we would have a World Series Championship, i actually believed him. Because of that our EXPECTATIONS have been raised, and never met. Every year...same high expectations, same disappointment!! So, frustrating!!! Just have to expect less, to ease the pain of watching this team!
I think McLean is the #1 starter. The starter gave up two runs. Doesn't look like he will go that much farther in the game, but that's the name of the game these days.
I'm most excited about players of the future like McLean and Benge. The stars they picked up in the offseason are not exciting me thus far.
You can see that power rankings are shifting....the Buccos have made strides...Rockies are better, White Sox are better...Braves are playing like the perennial Beasts of the East that they were/are.
The Rockies beat the Dodgers this season. The Mets are going to lose to bad teams. The booth noted the Rockies are playing with some spirit. Losing Game 1 is tough, though, since you want to win the series. Now that they need to sweep a doubleheader to do that.
Mr. M. has a role -- pitch a few innings, don't be perfect, but keep them in the game while relieving the rest of the pitching staff. Given how far the starters go, that's useful.

Plus it looks like they got 2 new kids who are legit. Stearns screwed the pooch. He will never admit it but results are his legacy.
It's getting late early. The Mets should sell t-shirts with that on the..

Murakami has 11 dingers! What?!
So why was Polanco a better choice to play 1B again?
