I dunno, how many teams have a really good 3rd string catcher? Aren't they expected to be good glove no bat guys? Senger has a canon for an arm and I don't recall him being as bad defensively as you paint him. Shift: really happy with the Williams acquisition. Eager to see what transpires in the outfield. I can't believe they open the season with Benge as the starter. If they can manage to procure Tucker and retain Alonso or sign Schwarber, that's quite a lineup! If you compare his cost to what Soto's getting (not implying they're of the same stature), it doesn't seem so bad. Advice to Uncle Steve: I repeat, you can't take it with you. You'll be 70 soon.

We still need a centerfielder, another power bat from the right side and another ace on the mound !

Yup, a lotta needs to be met. But we're off to a good start. I'd only quibble that with Alonso or Schwarber we'll have a power bat from the right and we may only be able to get someone good to start who might not be quite of the "ace" category. Depends on the price.

Yes, but.... Sure you want a solid veteran at AAA. I agree with Joel on Senger defensively. Offensively, yeah he was weak. But catching is at an all-time low in baseball, so expectations must be tempered.

I'm watching a LIDOM game tonight. Hayden Senger got the start for Licey. He's only been in five games, but he's hitting .375 with a dinger and an OPS over 1.000 ... but he still can't hit.

Every swing is the same: a big cut, a miss, a recoil, step out and do it again. If he makes contact, it's not smoked despite the big hack.

I'm sure someone has tried to get him to stop swinging for the downs so much, but he keeps doing it. Maybe it's the only way he can feel like he's catching up to pitches.

If that's the case, he's very much on the wrong track.
