So much for this “professional” team. Looked like the 2025 team with different names on the back of the jerseys. Lindor played like he’s getting dementia. This is a reflection on the manager. I’m sorry this team has been overhauled including the coaching staff but Mendy is the one who makes the line up. Vientos at first? Why didn’t he just DH him? I will say he was fine there (today). Lucky in my mind. He also took Peralta out after he got the two outs and what happens? A fucking run scores. It goes on Freddy’s line but it wasn’t his as the hit was allowed. Freddy should have been given the opportunity to close the inning. He wasn’t thrilled seeing Mendy come out of the dugout. If guys aren’t going to be allowed to go 6 this team will burn the bullpen just like last year and Stearns will have to trade good assets at the deadline because arms will be needed for the stretch run. Fire Mendy.

Mendy deserves to be on the hot seat. Unclear what Stearns was clinging to this offseason.

If the malaise continues thru April, a shakeup will be in order.

Woah, easy there big fella. It's only been 6 games. At least wait until we're 7 games in before firing the guy!!!

6 games this year. Saw enough of him last season to know he ain’t the guy.

I’m confident that most of this lineup will turn it around. I’m not confident in Semien and we don’t know if Benge can hit MLB pitching. We think and hope he can but he looks overmatched right now. The good news is the pitching looks good.

Another wasted decent pitching performance from the staff. These are the games you look back on if there is no post season. Especially when you lose a game 8-7 down the line.

I’ve been saying this for a while—the problem wasn’t pitching last year, it was hitting. You can nitpick the staff, but when a team is giving up 3 runs a game in the first half, that should be more than enough to win consistently. Even when it crept up later, good offensive teams know how to grind back 5–6 runs when needed.

The Mets didn’t. And that’s the concern now—it’s not just a slow start, it’s a pattern.

We’re already seeing the same issues the blog highlights: no clutch hitting, poor results with runners in scoring position, and long stretches where the lineup just goes dead . That’s exactly what killed them last year.

You can hope guys like Lindor or Bichette heat up—and they probably will—but a lineup isn’t fixed by two hitters getting right. If the rest of the order is still inconsistent, chasing, or making weak contact, then you’re right back where you started.

And that’s what worries me. It’s not just that they’re struggling—it’s how they’re struggling. The same lack of situational hitting, the same inability to cash in opportunities.

It’s early, sure. But if you’ve seen this movie before, you start recognizing the opening scenes pretty quickly.

This is not what I thought Stearns meant when he spoke of "run prevention"

It'll be interesting (more like painful) to watch Mendoza's bullpen mismanagement today. Since there seems to be a rule "no relief pitcher will pitch on consecutive days" that means that all 5 of our good relievers can't pitch. Which leaves us with Luis Garcia and Richard "Mendoza high leverage" Lovelady. Sound like a recipe for winning to you? Maybe Mendoza will break his rule and bring in Brazoban today. There seems to be another rule in play, which is "Unless your name is Myers you don't pitch more than one inning". Was there any reason Weaver couldn't have gone another inning or is he on an 11 pitch limit (sarcasm)?

Also. Is Lindor on the defensive side, diminishing as we speak?

I said it before, and I'll say it again. With Carlos Mendoza in his last year, and the screw ups that POBO have continually made, David Stearns is gone at the end of this year. You don't try to build a better defensive club, and bring in 2 iron glove contenders in Bo Bichette (who'll be gone next year) and Jorge Polanco. Just cluless.

Take a chill pill my friend. We're only 6 games in as there will be plenty of time to insult our Manager in the upcoming months. In the meantime, admire the excellent pitching that has been wasted. At lease we have a good ERA ranking. Keep hope alive!

To be fair, Bichette wasn't a first choice but when Tucker went to the Dodgers they were compelled to get a hitter, having let Alonso go. Think of Polanco as a DH.

On the subject of the Mets v Dodgers game on ESPN, did anyone notice something is wrong with the announcers? At first blush, you might miss it.

Kind of makes one wonder what the purpose of Spring Training is other than an obscene money grab for the club.

I'm with Mr. Schwartz, we'll go nowhere with Mehdoza taking up time and space in the dugout.

Don't see any obscenity.
